		<itunes:summary>Revelation 1
1The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

2Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

3Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

In the last couple of studies we have gone over verse 1 of the book of Revelation and while we could spend an entire year discovering who Christ is as the Word of God and what the Revelation of Christ is, we are going to move on in the book of Revelation as we continue to examine this issue.

The Book of Revelation is a powerful book because it shows us who Christ is but also who we are in Him. Today we will be going over verse 2.

We see here in verse 2 it says that John bore record of the Word of God and all of the things that he saw.

Today I want to start off in the Book of Matthew.

We are going to go to the 16th Chapter

13When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

When Jesus asked his disciples who do you say that I am, he got many different responses as to what the world said about who Christ was.

The Revelation of this passage is so powerful and to those who do indeed have the testimony of Christ, it is going to really be an encouragement.

Jesus turned after they had answered and asked but who do you say that I am.

Simon Peter answered and said Christ, the son of the Living God.

Flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God and what John is sharing in the Book of Revelation is not to be understood by men.

God is the one who revealed it to John, just as He is the one who reveals it to us.

Jesus told Peter that with this knowledge, he would receive the Keys to the Kingdom of heaven.

Do you realize the power that you have as a child of God?

As His child there is absolutely nothing in this world that can come against you.

Flesh and blood did not reveal the testimony of Christ to you.

It is not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit sayeth the Lord.

Here is what you must understand about the book of Revelation and prophecy before we go any further and we are going to stop with this point.

Revelation 19

9And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

10And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.</itunes:summary>

Now that we have an understanding of who Christ is as the Word of God, we are going to move on in our study of the first three verses in the book of Revelation. I believe it is important to leave no stone unturned, especially when it comes to this book.

The book of Revelation is riddled with mystery.

This is why very few people can agree on every aspect of this book and what it is saying.

The portion of Revelation 1:1 that we will be going over today is a prime example of this.

We have to understand that God almighty makes His mysteries known to individuals.

The mysteries of God cannot be discerned with human intellect. Just as salvation comes through Jesus Christ by way of the Spirit of God, so too does the knowledge of God.

We see here that God gave this Revelation unto John to show His servants the things which must shortly come to pass.

Here is the point of study that we are going to focus on today. What does it mean that these things must shortly come to pass?

After all, most people would agree that much of the book of Revelation has not come to pass. Some people however, because of verses like this believe that all of it has come to pass.

Why did the angel tell John that these things would shortly come to pass.

The word shortly is the word

G1722
epsilon;̓nu;
en
en
A primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), that is, a relation of rest (intermediate between G1519 and G1537); ldquo;inrdquo;, at, (up-) on, by, etc.: - about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-) by (+ all means), for (. . . sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-) in (-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-) on, [open-] ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, [speedi-] ly, X that, X there (-in, -on), through (-out), (un-) to(-ward), under, when, where (-with), while, with (-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) prep.

The word shortly means pretty much what it says, so why does the angel signify that these events would take place in a short period of time?

We are going to jump ahead a little bit in this one verse only.

This is going to go against what many would consider to be the typical dispensational point of view.

Please understand that I am not saying the book of Revelation has been entirely fulfilled. It definitely has been partially fulfilled and it did happen right after John received the prophecy.
Daniel 12
1And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

3And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

4But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

5Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the riv...</itunes:summary>

Strong's

Revelation - 602. apokalupsis ap-ok-al'-oop-sis from 601; disclosure:--appearing, coming, lighten, manifestation, be revealed, revelation.

The book of Revelation is the Revelation of Jesus Christ but what does the word revelation mean?

Word - 3056. logos log'-os from 3004; something said (including the thought); by implication, a topic (subject of discourse), also reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive; by extension, a computation; specially, (with the article in John) the Divine Expression (i.e. Christ):--account, cause, communication, X concerning, doctrine, fame, X have to do, intent, matter, mouth, preaching, question, reason, + reckon, remove, say(-ing), shew, X speaker, speech, talk, thing, + none of these things move me, tidings, treatise, utterance, word, work.

Why is it revealing Christ?

When we get into the book of Revelation you will begin to see that it is all about Christ, not as He was on the earth, but as He is and was from the foundation of the world.

When Christ came to this world, it is important to understand who He was and why He was here.

When we think about the son of God, we are thinking about Christ as a literal son.

I am not here to shake up anyones view of who Christ is, but I do believe that this is important for us to look at. We are not going to jump to any conclusions however.

Let's go to the Word and see who He is according to scripture.
John 1
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

This is very clear that Christ is the Word of God that was MADE flesh.

This is an important point because it reveals who Christ is in His original form.

Let's go back to the beginning and see the Word in Action.
Genesis 1
1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

9And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament o</itunes:summary>
