Revelation 1:1–3 Part 4 Who do you Say that I am?

Rev­e­la­tion 1

¹The Rev­e­la­tion of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his ser­vants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and sig­ni­fied it by his angel unto his ser­vant John:

²Who bare record of the word of God, and of the tes­ti­mony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

³Blessed is he that read­eth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are writ­ten therein: for the time is at hand.

In the last cou­ple of stud­ies we have gone over verse 1 of the book of Rev­e­la­tion and while we could spend an entire year dis­cov­er­ing who Christ is as the Word of God and what the Rev­e­la­tion of Christ is, we are going to move on in the book of Rev­e­la­tion as we con­tinue to exam­ine this issue.

The Book of Rev­e­la­tion is a pow­er­ful book because it shows us who Christ is but also who we are in Him. Today we will be going over verse 2.

We see here in verse 2 it says that John bore record of the Word of God and all of the things that he saw.

Today I want to start off in the Book of Matthew.

We are going to go to the 16th Chapter

¹³When Jesus came into the coasts of Cae­sarea Philippi, he asked his dis­ci­ples, say­ing, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

¹⁴And they said, Some say that thou art John the Bap­tist: some, Elias; and oth­ers, Jere­mias, or one of the prophets.

¹⁵He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

¹⁶And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the liv­ing God.

¹⁷And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar­jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

¹⁸And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not pre­vail against it.

¹⁹And I will give unto thee the keys of the king­dom of heaven: and what­so­ever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and what­so­ever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

When Jesus asked his dis­ci­ples who do you say that I am, he got many dif­fer­ent responses as to what the world said about who Christ was.

The Rev­e­la­tion of this pas­sage is so pow­er­ful and to those who do indeed have the tes­ti­mony of Christ, it is going to really be an encouragement.

Jesus turned after they had answered and asked but who do you say that I am.

Simon Peter answered and said Christ, the son of the Liv­ing God.

Flesh and blood can­not inherit the King­dom of God and what John is shar­ing in the Book of Rev­e­la­tion is not to be under­stood by men.

God is the one who revealed it to John, just as He is the one who reveals it to us.

Jesus told Peter that with this knowl­edge, he would receive the Keys to the King­dom of heaven.

Do you real­ize the power that you have as a child of God?

As His child there is absolutely noth­ing in this world that can come against you.

Flesh and blood did not reveal the tes­ti­mony of Christ to you.

It is not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit sayeth the Lord.

Here is what you must under­stand about the book of Rev­e­la­tion and prophecy before we go any fur­ther and we are going to stop with this point.

Rev­e­la­tion 19

⁹And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the mar­riage sup­per of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true say­ings of God.

¹⁰And I fell at his feet to wor­ship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fel­lowser­vant, and of thy brethren that have the tes­ti­mony of Jesus: wor­ship God: for the tes­ti­mony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
